Introducing...our Formal Dining Room!

Yes, finally done with all the crazy madness in this room! lol.  I still have some more decor ideas but the large parts are done.  Basically the table I've been trying to finish since last summer!

Before: (with the previous owners' furniture)

What we did:
- Painted the walls two tones of gray
- Designed custom curtains which mom made for us!  (She rocks!!)

- Took a Craigslist table and sanded, stained, and polyurethaned it to a beautiful new look
- Made new seat covers (Again, mom was a huge help with this step as well)

Please ignore my crazy project hair...

- Decorated...

So you want to see the final look?   :)

(Note: We still have to finish the china cabinet, but we'll need the warm weather to kick in...so just imagine it's black, sleek and gorgeous)

  4. Wow, Kath! I *know* how much work that is. The table came out amazing! You turned that table from DRAB to FAB!! [cheesy, but true]. Love that you went with the black too as it really classes it up. And those seat cushions look amazing! Were they hard? I'm so very, very impressed. You and Matt make a great team!

  12. Also over from iheartorganizing...your room looks great! My mom actually has the same exact dining set that she got from an antique store years ago (it's still brown)!!

Did you have to sand the chairs & table first before painting them? I'd love to do ours because it was a hand-me-down and has some water damage. I really don't want to sand it though :0(

  13. @ Sarah Jane, Thanks so much for visiting my blog! The more the merrier! Yes, I did sand that table. I had to put down two coats of stain (sanding in between). Then two coats of polyurethane. Same was done with the chairs.
